Hydro-Arch Is a general engineering contracting firm that specializes in flood control structures including arch culverts, bridges and channels. Although we construct an array of flood control structures, we specialize in the turnkey design and construction of cast-in place arch culverts.
The Hydro-Arch system is not just a product; it's a team of professionals. We aid in all aspects of a project including design coordination with civil engineers, submlttal, and in gaining approval with reviewing agencles.
Hydro-Arch is readily accepted in California, Arlzona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.
The Hydro-Arch system is low in cost, beating competing systems including pre-cast arches and boxes, multiplate arches, and DOT cast-in-place box culverts.
Standard spans range from 6 to 48 feet, and the rise from invert to crown is adjustable to meet flow requirements, in addition, we can design and build a Hydro-Arch system to meet any specific load criteria.
Hydro-Arch systems also save time because we stock a large inventory of reusable steel forms, so construction can start quickly after we receive an order. There is no waiting for pre-cast units to be manufactured. In addition, Hydro-Arch systems benefit from the demonstrated durability of concrete and are covered with earth, thus eliminating bridge decks and bridge deck maintenance.
The Hydro-Arch system works well and is most cost effective when used for storm drains as well as culverts, bridges, environmental crossings, cut and cover tunnels, and pump stations on golf courses.
Hydro-Arch is a great solution in lieu of a standard bridge. We can provide a multiple barrel structure which would allow for 100 or 200 foot span.
The biggest advantage in this application is that a Hydro Arch system can reduce your cost by 40% over a standard bridge structure. Stone veneering the head and wing walls ties the theme of the project and can provide you with a feature unique to the development.
Hydro-Arch can be used in lieu of box culverts. Because the Hydro Arch system can span a greater distance then the box, you can minimize the number of structures needed. This will improve your inlet capacity and reduce potential clogging.
Hydro Arch can reduce your culvert cost by 20 to 25% over a standard Box Culvert solution.
The longer the storm drain, the more cost effective Hydro Arch can be. Because we use reusable steel forms, we can install up to 100 LF of structure per day. Since time is money, Hydro Arch will save you both time and money on a long storm drain structure.
The Hydro Arch system can compete with RCP in the 96” diameter and above. Against Reinforced Concrete Boxes, Hydro Arch can provide a savings of 20 to 25%.
Underpasses provide a great opportunity for Hydro Arch to supply an esthetic, large crossing which will provide the proper clearance requirements for the project.
Instead of putting in a square, uninteresting box, you can place a Hydro Arch that will be pleasing to the eye and save you money in the process.
In the past few years, stricter guidelines are forcing many developers into clear spanning a CORPS of Engineers or Fish and Wildlife Jurisdiction. Hydro Arch can be a perfect solution by providing a soft bottom design that would stay out of the jurisdictional area.
This solution could negate having to get a 404 permit which would greatly reduce the time of development needed for the project.
Over the past 18 years, the company has built over 85 miles of Hydro-Arch systems throughout California, Arizona, and Nevada. To demonstrate our extensive experience, we offer a sample list of clients and projects:
